FACTS VERSUS FALSE HISTORICAL GLORY – Paul Ayounga

J. B. Dankwa was a powerful Lawyer but he never won an election in the history of Gold Coast (Ghana). A teacher once beat him in an election.
Paa Grant was a successful Business Man who founded UGCC.
Because J. B. Dankwa could speak Big Big English with his law background, Paa Grant made him vice chairman of the UGCC .

Paa Grant later heard about a vibrant young Gold Coaster who lived in the UK and could support the struggle for colonial freedom and independence. Paa Grant then sent him 100 pounds to come home. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah became the hope of the people.

When Dr. Nkrumah arrived in Gold Coast, Grant bought a car for him to go round the country and sensitize the people about UGCC. Thus, the beginning of Nkrumah’s popularity.

Unfortunately, Paa Grant died in 1952, UGCC also died off. J.B Dankwa and the rest were nowhere to be found. Members of the party broke away to form CPP and, made Dr. Nkrumah Leader.

An election was organized in 1954, and the Nkrumah led CPP won over 70%.
In 1956, another election was organized and J. B. Dankwa representing the United Party (UP), contested the CPP (Dr. Nkrumah) and got an unrecognized percentage.

Now, tell us how this man in history today becomes the freedom fighter over Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. This is what I call The False glory.
