Ghanaian tour guide Mr. Asare Bediako Banahene Albert, also known as Gyatabuom Gyata, spoke on DL Fm and Neat FM about the benefits and challenges of tourism in Ghana.

Gyatabuom Gyata highlighted how tourism can generate funds for the country and promote Ghana’s attractions to foreigners, particularly Europeans. He shared his experiences showcasing Ghana’s beautiful tourist sites, delicious local foods, and stunning landscapes to visitors. His passion for Ghana was evident and resonated with foreigners who love visiting the country.

However, Gyatabuom Gyata pointed out significant challenges hindering the full potential of tourism. He expressed concern over poor road networks leading to some tourism sites like Boti Falls in the Eastern Region. Despite tourism’s potential to generate funds, he noted that leaders seem to overlook these areas. Additionally, lodges where he accommodates tourists sometimes face issues like lack of water and electricity, making his job as a tour guide stressful.

Gyatabuom Gyata emphasized the need for collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and the nation’s president to renovate tourism sites and improve road networks. He believes this would help change the negative perception affecting interest in tourism. Gyatabuom Gyata reiterated that tourism generates income for the country and should be a national priority.
