Cristiano Ronaldo to Man City latest LIVE as transfer rumours continue
Cristiano Ronaldo continues to be connected with a move back to Manchester – but if it were to come to pass, he would be playing in blue.
Manchester City have been linked with a transfer move for the Juventus forward since their efforts to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham ended unsuccessfully, and claims have now emerged that Ronaldo is close to agreeing terms with the club.
The move would be controversial given the Portuguese’s links to Manchester United, where he made his name as one of the world’s leading players before moving to Real Madrid and earning yet more plaudits.
Our understanding is that a surprise move to secure Ronaldo’s signature is not off the table as it stands, and one way or another there will need to be a resolution ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
We will bring you all the latest details, gossip and rumours around the story as it develops.
Agreement not reached’
According to Sky Sports, a meeting between Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent – Jorge Mends – and Juventus ended without an agreement being reached concerning his future.
Juventus are willing to sell the striker ahead of his contract expiring next summer but are not prepared to budge on their £25million valuation.
Mendes is currently looking for a club to buy the Portugal international.
According to ESPN, Cristiano Ronaldo has held a telephone discussion with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola about a possible move.
City are looking to get a deal over the line for the 36-year-old ahead of the transfer window closing on Tuesday evening.
Ronaldo is believed to be keen on the move and has spoken to Guardiola.
City make progress with deal
Manchester City have made progress in a sensational deal for Cristiano Ronaldo with the player and club open to a move.
As M.E.N Sport reported on Wednesday, while the offer of the player from his camp was knocked back last week by the Blues the failure to land primary target Harry Kane prompted a reassessment.
City are looking into the signing and have received positive noises back that the player is keen, although reports that any agreements are close have been played down by club sources.
